What is UNICEF Day for Children?
UNICEF Day for Children is UNICEF Australia’s annual fundraising event for schools, celebrated each year on Universal Children’s Day, Wednesday 24 October 2012. On this day, thousands of students around Australia take action for children in other parts of the world by going to school dressed in blue to help raise money for UNICEF’s education projects overseas.
“All children deserve the chance to go to school,
but sadly this remains a distant dream for
67 million children around the world”
26 million of these out of school children live in the Asia and Pacific region. This year, Australian students can help change this situation by celebrating UNICEF Day for Children.
All funds raised in 2012 will support UNICEF’s Schools for Asia program. This program will help improve the access and quality of education for disadvantaged children living across Asia and the Pacific through establishing Child-Friendly Schools. Read more.
Since 2006, thousands of students have helped raise almost $300,000 to support the work of UNICEF providing other kids around the world the chance to go to school. This year, you and your school can help realise children’s right to an education on 24 October 2012. Register your school today!
